Goodbye Houston…Hello Detroit!

We moved to the Detroit metro area on March 13th, 2015. It was another whirlwind type of move. We loaded the truck in Houston (of course) on Friday and started the drive at 7:30PM Houston time and arrived in Novi Michigan at 10:00PM Saturday Novi time (that is 9:00PM Houston).

We could not have done it without Kyle, Becca, Jill and Mikey. We got the entire 26 foot truck stuffed in 6 hours. The apartment cleaned up sans vacuuming and dusting. We are eternally grateful for your help!

Saying goodbye to everyone was so hard. I will miss all the people i made friendships with. i know, goodbyes do not have to be forever but it is so hard to travel across country. Life seems to keep getting in the way.

We did another shift driving thing. It was so funny. i had my first “5 hour energy” shot drink thing. Brian was sleeping and it was my turn to drive. He woke up like about 2 hours later and asked if i was still ok. i looked at Him and said “YEP!!!!!!!”. He said it was the freakiest thing i ever did. i drove for 4 hours that time. He slept for most of it.

When we arrived, Lynn said that they heard what they thought was a semi coming. “That cannot be them…” she thought. Then we came around the corner and it was. “We heard you a million miles away!”.  Well i would think so… a 26 foot Uhaul with a vehicle dolly that had the Zuki (for those that do not know that is what i called my Suzuki XL-7) fully suspended.

The next day we unloaded the Uhaul at storage and turned in the truck. On Monday, Brian started His new job. The weekend went by so fast that one minute we were in Houston and we blinked and it was Monday and we were in Novi. i do not understand how it takes people like a week to move…just do it…
