Honeymoon in Hawaii

The morning after the wedding we got on a plane to Hawaii. It was so wonderful. We pretty much did nothing. We did not want to do anything because planning the wedding was so crazy and we wanted to relax. When we got there we had to search for our room. Once we found it, we got a pizza from the same cafe that Brian ate at.

first night

Our first day there we ate breakfast, looked around and tried to get our bearing on things.

first morning

We mostly hung out at the pool.

We went to the mall to look around because it was the same mall that Brian went to when he was here as a teenager. We ended up having some amazing hamburgers.

We even got a few souvenirs. On our drive, i complained about the humidity and how the dying grass made everything feel like it was Vegas meets Houston which equals “hell” for me. But the dying grass was dying because it was unusually warm and it was the “dry season” where that side of the island did not get much rain at all.

hotel

That night we ate at a really nice restaurant in the hotel. It was very tasty. Brian, of course, got fish. i got beef.

The next day we explored the hotel a little more and went down to the beach.

day 2

There was so much flora!

We got to the beach and it was beautiful. Just like in the movies. The water was so warm it felt like bath water. Just like the pool parties i used to go to at my Dad’s in Vegas.

On day 3 we went to a place that was referred to us by my hair lady Sheri – Merrirman’s. It was where she got married. i had my first ever Mai’ Tai’ there and OMG it is my new favorite drink.

The restaurant was all open towards the ocean. The breeze was so fantastic and we got to enjoy the view of the water for a bit. Our meals came out on these beautiful plates. The chef found out that it was our honeymoon and wrote “Congratulations” in Hawaiian.

During the course of the dinner the sun began to set. It was so beautiful i felt like in those moments i did not want to ever leave.

Day 4 brought us to nothing but the pool. We did absolutely, 100%, lovely nothing. We even had pineapple drinks by the pool. It was a wonderful day.

On day 5, Brian scheduled us to go to a luau. It was one of the things on my bucket list. i know that the one we went to was for tourist and that it was not a “real” one but it was still very fun. We got see them dig up the roasting pig in the ground. There was arts and crafts. There was some little shops too where we could buy handmade items of Hawaiian culture.

luau

We ate outside again and watched another beautiful sunset.

We also watched a show with hula dancers, fire dancers and a little play of sorts. So very entrancing and made me want to get back into belly dancing.

On day 6, it was our last full day. During the day, it was another day at the pool. But, that evening, we had dinner at the new restaurant at the hotel called Kō.

We ate our of these little bowls. It was so tasty we bought the bowls and a cook book to try to make it at home too. Our table was perfect. During the daylight, we got to enjoy the beautiful hibiscuses.

And as we ate, we got enjoy our last tropical sunset. Finally on this day i knew i would miss this place.

Our last morning there, we swam for a bit. It felt right to “say goodbye” to the pool where we spent so much time decompressing.

last day

Brian had a surprise for me. At the airport, we were flying first class! There was so much room! And we got champagne with out meal! Yes, it was so exciting!

home

When we got home, Brian’s mom surprised us with a “welcome home” party. We talked, shared pictures, gave our gifts, ate and just hung out. It was a nice way to wrap everything up and start living our normal “Husband and wife” kinda life.

We had so much fun and we sent our thank you note out as soon as we could because none of it would have been possible without everyones love, support, and generousness.

thanks you
