i have 3 sons. The older 2 are from my first marriage, Robbie and Matthew. The youngest is from my second marriage and his father is trying everything he can to get me out of the picture. i do not have much (if any) contact with him.
On July 9, 2014 my older boys came to visit. Brian was nervous, as He should be. He is meeting His future step-sons. Will they like me? Will she still have time for me while they are here? Will we be put on the back burner? Will our lifestyle change at all? Those were some of the concerns that Brian had.
When we met them at the airport, Robbie sawl the ring on my finger and asked “Already!?” i told him yes and that we were friends for a long time. He seemed to be ok with that. “I just want you to be happy.” is what he said. Matthew has always been a “go with the flow” type.
Initially Brian and i were going to work the whole time they were here. But Brian wanted to get to know them better. He used most of His PTO so that he can hang with the kids. The gesture did not go unnoticed. Robbie said that he really like Brian because He stayed home with them. “It shows how much He cares, mom.”
Robbie had his birthday just before he came. i did not send him something like i normally do because i wanted to see his face.
We went into Best Buy and he is like “Oh cool a video game.”
i cover his eyes and direct him to the NintendoDS section. i asked Brian to just grab “one” (a 3DS) and put it in Robbie’s hands. When He did i uncovered his eyes and he looked at it. “Seriously!?”
“Yes.”
“You’re not joking!?”
“Nope.”
“Really!?” Then screamed “YES!!!” as he jumped in the air.
He startled the other shoppers. It was one of the most rewarding gift-givings i ever had.
We did a few fun things while they were here. We went to Pleasure Pier, Schlitterbahn Water Park, went to the movies, and went to my brothers. Mostly though we stayed home and chilled with each other playing Guitar Hero, Rockband and other games.
When we went to Pleasure Pier and Schlitterbahn we got wrist bands. There is a competition that we do…who’s ever stays on the longest wins! Needless to say, Brian won.
Robbie and Matthew like Brian a lot. “He makes you so happy mom. He doesn’t tease you until you get mad. He takes care of you.” It melted my heart to hear them both say that.
Here are some pictures of the things we did together.
