Leaving Vegas in the Rear View

Valentine’s weekend Brian and i went to Vegas one last time to visit my Mom and to get my stuff out of the storage unit i shared with my ex. We thought now would be best as we are moving to Michigan in the next month.

This was how the trip was **SUPPOSED** to be. We would fly in in the mid-evening. my Mom would pick us up at the airport and she can finally meet Brian. Go wedding dress shopping and then dinner. She was going to drop us off at the hotel for the night. We would walk to Uhaul and get the truck. Go to the storage unit and load it up. Go get Becca’s hutch from her mom’s house. Start the shift drive to Houston.

But, the whole trip seemed like a disaster. The leaving flight was delayed by 3 hours, which blew away the amazing plans for dress shopping and dinner with my Mom. Because we got in so late, she could not pick us up from the airport. The next day, the key given to me by my ex was the wrong key for the storage unit and i was not on the contract so we had to wait 5 hours to get everything sorted out and the lock cut.

The only thing that went smooth was getting the Uhaul, getting Becca’s china hutch, and packing up the truck.

my Mom brought us In-N-Out for lunch at the storage unit and we hung out for about an hour-hour and a half. Brian likes her. She is another kinda crazy like me. She reminds Him of me. We gave her her barfday present early in cases things got out of control when we moved. (Meaning we packed up in a box and put it somewhere deep in the storage unit in Michigan.)

The funny thing is she was trying to get to us as fast as she could and spilt pop on her door. HAHA… i would have done the same thing. She is such a clutz and goofball…and i am just like her. It is one of the qualities that Brian loves the most about me.

For her barday, we got her the perfume that she loves (Heavenly by VS) and a VS necklace that said “Love Me”. This had special meaning because this is how she signed anything for her husband. It was a must have. When i was picking it out, i sprayed a sample paper like 532 times with her perfume. Not the actual one we bought her, the sample one. That way i can smell her when ever i wanted. i keep in my nightstand so i smell it when i miss her terribly.

i wish we could have had more time together. i wish that we lived closer together. Then i would not miss her so terribly and she can be there with Lynn and me to do all this wedding planning.

i will always be thankful to Brian as He brought me and my Mom closer together. We are not as close as we were when i lived in Vegas, but we are working on it. We are rebuilding the bridges. And Brian is the supervisor to make sure it happens.

After we loaded up the Uhaul, we drove back to Houston. We did shift driving so we did not need to stop anywhere. We even celebrated Valentine’s at a McDonald’s in the Uhaul.

It took us 26 hours. The reason why it took so long was because we stopped to eat at places. The whole trip (Arriving at the airport in Houston, flying, getting the Uhaul, getting Becca’s Hutch, meeting Mom, loading the Uhaul, driving back to Houston, unloading the Uhaul, and giving back the truck) took 49 hours.  Talk about whirlwind and crazy…yea that was us.
